SignWiki Terms of Service
Communication Centre of Deaf and Hard of hearing, Reykjavik, Iceland, provides the Sign Language community and organizations involved in deaf education, the SignWiki service, with hosting and a platform to register Sign Language resources, dictionaries, and to collaboratively edit sign language content. SignWiki is owned and operated by the Communication Centre for Deaf and hard of hearing in Iceland (SHH). (the “Service”)
By using SignWiki and posting content on SignWiki, you agree to be bound by the terms and condition of this Terms of Service.
Changes In Terms of Service
SHH may at its sole discretion modify, change or terminate the service and these Terms of Service from time to time, for any reason, and without notice, including the right to terminate with or without notice, without liability to you, any other user or any third party. We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Services from time to time without notice. Please review these Terms of Services from time to time so that you will be apprised of any changes. Nothing in these Terms of Service shall be deemed to confer any third-party rights or benefits.
Service provision
SignWiki is provided as a hosted service to qualified institutions and organizations involved in deaf education and Sign Language development. SHH reserves the rights to provide the service at its own discretion, and to reject any applications or requests for provision of services. These Terms of Service apply to all users of the Service, including contributors of content.
A part from providing access to the platform, SHH does not provide you with any other services or support.
SignWiki is based on the Mediawiki open source software, and various Mediawiki extensions. Please see www.mediawiki.org
Video Services
SignWiki enables the embedding of videos from third party video services, including YouTube and Vimeo. These video services are provided to you by the respective companies based on the terms of services as laid out at the respective sites. SHH makes no guarantees regarding the provision or terms of these services, as SignWiki merely creates a means to embed and organize these videos as a part of a Sign Language recourse base. SignWiki has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for the content, terms of service, privacy policy or acts of any third party website.
Sign Language videos posted on SignWiki are posted and licensed under a Creative Commons License and you can only embed videos for which you have full copyright over. The license allows Sign Language videos to be used freely for non-commercial purposes.
User Conduct and Content
You understand that all information, videos, data, text, comments, graphics, messages or other materials whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person from which such content originated. This means that you, and not SHH are entirely responsible for all content that you upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available via SignWiki. By using the Service you expressly relieve SignWiki from any and all liability arising from your use of the Service in any manner.
We claim no ownership over any content posted by users and you retain the copyright to your submission. However, once you submit the content, you authorize SignWiki to use and distribute it freely under a Creative Commons License. The license doesn't apply to external source of information, like images from third party providers. They are used according to the terms of service of the providers and should be attributed accordingly.
By submitting content to SignWiki you confirm and warrant that you own and/or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents and permission to publish the content you submit. You further confirm that the content you submit will not contain any third party copyrighted material unless prior permission has been obtained from the respective owner of such rights and that you have been granted permission to provide SignWiki with the rights to the content stipulated in these Terms of Service.
Disclaimer of Warranties
SHH disclaims any and all responsibility or liability for the accuracy, content, completeness, legality, reliability, or operability or availability of information or material displayed on SignWiki websites. SHH disclaims any responsibility for the deletion, failure to store, misdelivery, or untimely delivery of any information or material. SHH disclaims any responsibility for any harm resulting from downloading or accessing any information or material on the Internet through SignWiki.
SIGNWIKI AND ALL MATERIALS, INFORMATION, PRODUCTS AND SERVICES INCLUDED IN SIGNWIKI, ARE PROVIDED "AS IS," WITH NO WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER. SHH EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT OF PROPRIETARY RIGHTS. SHH DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTIES REGARDING THE SECURITY, RELIABILITY, TIMELINESS, AND PERFORMANCE OF SIGNWIKI. SHH DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTIES FOR ANY INFORMATION OR ADVICE OBTAINED THROUGH SIGNWIKI.
YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT YOU DOWNLOAD OR OTHERWISE OBTAIN MATERIAL OR DATA THROUGH THE USE OF SIGNWIKI AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND RISK AND THAT YOU WILL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES TO YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM OR LOSS OF DATA THAT RESULTS FROM THE DOWNLOAD OF SUCH MATERIAL OR DATA.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by the applicable law, you agree to hold SSH and SignWiki and its employees and agents, harmless from and against any claims, liabilities or expenses arising from or in connection to your use of the service, your violation of any terms of these Terms of Service, your violation of any third party rights or any claim that the content you uploaded caused damage to any third party.
Advertisement
Placing advertisments on SignWiki is not permitted and can result in termination of service.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold SHH, its affiliates, officers, agents, or other partners, and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of Content you submit, post, transmit or make available through SignWiki, your use of the SignWiki, your connection to the SignWiki, your violation of the Terms of Service, or your violation of any rights of another.
